Zimbabwe tightens Mpox surveillance

Health and Child Care Minister Dr. Douglas Mombeshora has announced that Zimbabwe will intensify its Mpox surveillance efforts following the successful containment of two reported cases last Sunday.

In an interview with Zimpapers Radio News, Dr. Mombeshora said authorities have ramped up monitoring and screening systems at the country’s ports of entry to prevent further transmission.


To combat the spread of Mpox, formerly known as Monkeypox, Zimbabwe has implemented, enhanced surveillance at ports of entry, community-based surveillance, increased public awareness campaigns.
Mpox symptoms include rash, headache, fever and muscle aches.
