Government says it has completed rapid assessment surveys in the country’s eight rural malaria prone provinces, in an effort to raise awareness on detection, prevention and treatment of the disease.

Programmes manager in the ministry of Health and Child Care, Malaria, Dr Joseph Mberikunashe said by the 31st of next month, the government is expecting to have disinfected 31 districts, as well as capacitate village health workers to test and treat malaria.

According to recent statistics, malaria mortality had declined in 2019; however, the gains stand threatened since the onset of covid-19, which has similar symptoms that include fever, headache, general body pains and weakness, leading to misdiagnosis in some instances.
