The country’s historic Satellite Zimsat-1 which launched into space last month has been deployed successfully into orbit and is now ready to provide aerial maps on mineral deposits, weather predictions, and land settlement patterns among other vital information to guide national plans.
Speaking after the deployment today Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development Minister Professor Amon Murwira said Zimsat-1 will further support Zimbabwe's space-related research.
Zimbabwe launched into space its satellite last month on a rocket that was also carrying similar equipment for Uganda and Japan.
Following the successful launch, Botswana is now finalising launching its satellite into space and becoming part of the few countries in Africa with such technology.
