President Emmerson Mnangagwa says the new seed maize conditioning plant established by agriculture company Seedco will enhance production of the input in the country.
Speaking after touring the multimillion-dollar plant in Mount Hampden just outside Harare on Thursday, at a time farmers have raised concerns over an increase in price of seed, the President urged companies in the agriculture sector to invest in value addition.
Speaking at the same function, Lands, Agriculture Fisheries, Water and Rural Resettlement Minister Anxious Masuka urged Seedco to continue supporting government initiatives towards the national agriculture recovery plan.
The plant was partly funded by France in yet another sign of a positive outcome of the country’s re-engagement drive particularly with some European countries.
