Young people have a crucial role in educating their rural counterparts who remain unaware of the negative effects of climate change that have resulted in declining agricultural yields.
This was said by Environment, Climate, Tourism, and Hospitality Industry Minister, Mangaliso Ndlovu during an engagement with representatives of young people from across the globe recently at the ongoing Cop27 in Egypt.
The youths wanted to know from Minister Ndlovu, what governments across the globe were doing to work closely with young people to mitigate the effects of climate change.
Minister Ndlovu said it is important for governments to facilitate the participation of youths in climate change issues.
The Cop27 ends this week with signs of little commitment from developed nations to fund activities in developing countries to mitigate the effects of climate change.
