Agricultural Advisory and Rural Development Services Chief Director Professor Obert jiri has advised farmers to start planting if they have received enough rains.

In an interview Professor Jiri said it is critical for farmers who have received adequate rains to start planting in case unexpected rainfall patterns occur.

He urged farmers to stagger their planting where they will not plant all crops at the same time in case the weather patterns change.

Meanwhile Professor Jiri said farmers should embrace conservation agriculture as part of good agronomic practices as well as a measure against drought effects.

He added that farmers should continue to seek advice and weather updates from experts to ensure high yields and quality production.
