Zimbabwe has made significant strides towards ending tuberculosis (TB), following the surpassing of a target in the first half of 2022 ,to provide therapy to those exposed to infection or infected by the disease.

This was revealed by Union Zimbabwe Trust programmatic management of drug resistant TB technical officer, Dr Rutendo Manyati during a media health workshop in Kwekwe, Midlands province, recently..

According to the Ministry of Health and Child Care, nearly 13 000 people completed TB preventative therapy (TPT) countrywide, which is medication that is dispensed prior to exposure, and breaks the cycle of the disease in the human body, to prevent serious illness and subsequent death.
