Common diarrhoea cases continue to rise in children under five

Cases of common diarrhoea in children under five years continue to rise countrywide with three deaths recorded in the past week, where over 3 000 of at least 5 600 incidences were reported among the young ages group. 

According to a latest Ministry of Health and Chld Care weekly surveillance report, the provinces that recorded the highest number of diarrhoea cases were Manicaland, with 1 173 and Mashonaland Central at 915 cases. 

This brings the cumulative figures for common diarrhoea since the beginning of the year, to nearly 172 000, with 53 deaths.
