Pan African Parliament president Chief Fortune charumbira has underscored the importance of peace and security on the continent, saying it's crucial for the advancement of aspirations and development of nations. 

the newly elected president was speaking during an inter-regional knowledge exchange meeting in Lusaka, Zambia yesterday.

The continent is witnessing insurgency acts in part’s of Mozambique, unrest in Northern Democratic Republic of Congo and separatist activities in Ethiopia and South Sudan among others.
