Finance and Economic Development deputy Minister, Clemence Chiduwa says most companies are overpricing goods even after benefitting from the foreign currency auction system.
Responding to questions in the National Assembly, the deputy Minister said the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe's Financial Intelligence Unit is incapacitated to monitor the whole country.
Legislators across the political divide, then questioned why Government continues to be lenient with companies which are wantonly hiking prices of goods, with Uzumba legislator Simbaneuta Mudarikwa calling for their blacklisting, while Norton member of Parliament Themba Mliswa demanded a full list of the beneficiaries of cheap forex, from the RBZ.
Meanwhile, the Consumer Council of Zimbabwe public relations officer, Christopher Kamba says it is engaging various stakeholders over the pricing of basic commodities which have gone beyond the reach of many.
