The setting up of phase 1 of black granite cutting and polishing plant in Mutoko, Mashonaland East province is complete and production has started, with Government expressing satisfaction that companies are taking heed of its drive to push value addition of local resources.

Speaking during a tour of the rich basin minerals in Mutoko this Wednesday, Minister of State for Presidential Affairs in charge of implementation and monitoring of government programmes, Dr jorum gumbo said the plant will boost the country’s revenue and employment levels.

The mining of black granite in Mutoko has been controversial over the years with locals accusing companies extracting the stone of failing to ensure development in the area.
