Political parties blamed for voter apathy

Online Desk |  2 weeks ago | local

The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) says political parties are mostly to blame for the increase in voter apathy as they demotivate would-be voters through spreading falsehoods and other unsubstantiated claims.

Speaking during a Youth Symposium on Voter Registration and Participation in Harare yesterday, ZEC spokesperson Jasper Mangwana urged political parties to address any issues regarding voting processes through proper channels as enshrined in the Electoral Act.

The call comes at a time voter registration among the youth has been significantly low.
