President Emmerson Mnangagwa says there is urgent need to address challenges faced by the sports sector for the improvement of industry livelihoods and development of the nation as a whole.
Speaking at a reception to honour World Boxing Council (WBC) interim super-bantamweight World Champion Title winner Kudakwashe Chiwandire at State House in Harare yesterday, President Mnangagwa pledged his government's support for the sports sector.
Kudakwashe ‘take money’ Chiwandire said the victory should inspire more women to scale the heights across all fields.
Chiwandire beat Zambia’s Catherine Phiri in March in lusaka to become the second African woman to land the belt after Phiri.
Locally she is the first Zimbabwean boxer to win a WBC gold title.
