The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) says plans are at an advanced stage for the establishment of a central surveillance centre in Harare to monitor operations in all its offices.

Speaking at a meeting held in Mutare, Manicaland recently, ZIMRA director information communication technology, Shami Moyo said the centre will also feed from digital technologies such as drones and closed circuit tv cameras that are set to be introduced at ports of entry and borderlines in a bid to scale up transparency, curb corruption and smuggling.

He added that the measures are meant to curb leakages running into millions of dollars annually due to porous borders where corruption is rampant.

It is also expected to result in improved services to customers.
