As Zimbabwe prepares to conduct its National Population and Housing Census in April , census enumerators have been called upon to ensure they correctly capture data to ensure realities on the ground are responded to, through well thought out decisions and policies.
The call was made by Minister of State for Bulawayo Metropolitan Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Judith Ncube on Monday at a Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (ZimStat) level two training workshop for supervisors.
Meanwhile, ZimStat director Fadzai Ndlovu warned enumerators against fabricating information.
The National Population and Housing Census will be held from the 21st to 30th of April.
While previous censuses were manually conducted, with enumerators using a lot of paperwork, the 2022 exercise will be done electronically through the use of tablets and a computer assisted personal interviewing (capi) technique system.
At least 50 000 enumerators are being recruited for the census exercise together with I.T. technicians. The last census was conducted in 2012 and showed that Zimbabwe had a population of about 13 million.
