Government says it has lined up a host of activities to celebrate achievements by women over the years as the country today marks International Women’s Day, whose celebrations were low-scale in the past two years due to Covid -19.
This was said by Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Minister Sithembiso Nyoni on Tuesday during a media briefing in Harare.
Meanwhile, Star FM News also spoke to Member of Parliament for Seke-Chikomba constituency Tatenda Mavetera and City of Kadoma deputy mayor Cllr Tendai Kokera who hailed the various Government initiatives aimed at encouraging women’s participation in politics.
The International Women’s Day commemorations are running under the International theme “Gender equality for a sustainable tomorrow” while the National theme is “gender mainstreaming and women empowerment in climate change and disaster risk management.”
