A nine year old Zimbabwean boy who was mauled by a hyena last month is now at Mediclinic Sandton Hospital in South Africa where he is set to receive a series of corrective surgeries beginning tomorrow (Monday).

Staff at the Hospital on Saturday formed a tunnel to welcome the boy who was attacked whilst coming from an all-night church service in Zaka, Masvingo province.

He was subsequently taken to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals where surgeons stabilised his open wounds, before prescribing a specialised surgery.

Plastic surgeons in South Africa are preparing to reconstruct the face of the boy who lost his nose, left eye, most of his upper lip, and other parts of his face. One of the surgeons leading the specialised corrective process Ridwan Mia, told international media that he could not say no to helping the boy.
