The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has dismissed reports that the body has tempered with the voters roll in order to sway election results.
In a statement, ZEC chief elections officer Utoile Silaigwana said such reports are not only meant to tarnish the image of the electoral body but to mislead stakeholders.
He stated that the registration process and maintenance of the voters roll is a continuous process where the Commission removes deceased voters, duplicates, and other mal-contents to update the database and maintain accuracy.
Mr Silaigwana added that, those who were concerned over what they termed too many transfers on the voters roll, were failing to understand that the electoral law, permits any voter who has become a resident in another constituency or ward to transfer their registration upon proof of details of new residency
This comes as the country is preparing for the March 26 by elections as well the 2023 harmonised election next year.
