Musicians have implored players in the Radio industry to come up with policies and other interventions that contribute towards the development of the local arts sector as well as improve the livelihoods of artists.

Speaking to Star FM News as the nation commemorated World Radio Day yesterday, musicians Diana Samukange, Hosiah Chipanga, Rockford Josphat (Roki) and Selma Mtukudzi hailed the medium for its pivotal role in shaping careers and building brands.

World Radio day is celebrated annually on the 13th of February and yesterday marked its 11th edition.

The main national commemorations were held in Chiredzi yesterday where Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Monica Mutsvangwa commissioned a new community Radio Station Avuxeni FM, as Government forges ahead with broadening access to information, and giving communities a voice to tell their stories.
