It’s just two days to the start of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon and three days before Zimbabwe takes on Senegal in the opening match on Monday.

Bournemouth midfielder Jordan Zemura is the only player still to join the Warriors camp, as he was self-isolating in England after there were Covid-19 positive cases within his club.

Former Warriors captain Willard Katsande, who captained the team when we last played Senegal at AFCON in 2017 in Gabon, believes playing the Lions of Teranga in the opening match gives the Warriors a chance to market themselves although he reckons that its going to be a tough match.

He added that the Warriors need to have the mental strength to be able to manage the game and avoid conceding early as they did in Gabon.

Guinea, who the Warriors play in a second game, beat Rwanda 2-0 yesterday in a friendly match in Kigali, with goals from Naby Keita and France-based Mohamed Bayo.

Guinea flew to Cameroon after the game.
