Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi and First Lady Isaura Nyusi have tested positive for Covid-19 and are in isolation.

A statement from the Presidency said President Nyusi and his wife had decided to isolate in accordance with health guidelines, even though they are not showing symptoms.

Mozambique has so far recorded more than 193,000 Covid-19 cases and over 2 000 deaths.

Yesterday Botswana also confirmed that its President, Mokgweetsi Masisi, is in mandatory self-isolation, after testing positive for Covid-19 in routine testing.
