Government has tightened Covid-19 screening measures at the country’s borders and airports and called on citizens to avoid unnecessary festive season traveling as part of measures to curb the spread of the pandemic.
In a directive to all Provincial Medical Directors, Health and Child Care permanent secretary Dr Jasper Chimedza said all provinces should ensure that they enforce the recent law to test travelers upon arrival at entry points.
The country has been hit by the Covid-19 fourth wave which has seen a sharp increase in new infections.
According to the Ministry of Heath and Child Care's daily Covid-19 report, 4 367 people tested positive on Wednesday while 14 deaths succumbed to the virus.
Zimbabwe now has active cases 46 378.
