The Ministries of Mines and Mining Development and Environment, Climate, Tourism and Hospitality Industry, together with the Zimbabwe Miners Federation, conducted an awareness campaign for small-scale miners in Mashonaland West Province to ensure safety in mining during this rainy season.

Mines and mining development chief engineer Michael Munodawafa said awareness campaigns have already been carried out in Matabeleland South and Mashonaland Central.

Meanwhile Zimbabwe Miners Federation Mashonaland West chairperson Timothy Chizuzu called on artisanal miners to exercise caution at their mining sites during the rainy season.
