Zimbabwe records new cholera cases

Health authorities say three new cholera cases were recorded in the country yesterday after laboratory tests, with one suspected death bringing the total number of confirmed active cases in the country to eight.

According to the latest ministry of Health and Child Care cholera situational report four of the confirmed cases were recorded in Mashonaland West province, one in Manicaland and the remaining three in Matabeleland south. Suspected cases of cholera have risen to ninety-eight with a total of 17 cholera hotspots which include Chegutu, Buhera, Chimanimani, Chipinge, Chitungwiza, Chiredzi, Harare and Marondera.

The first case of cholera was recorded on the 12th of last month at a time neighbouring countries including Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia and South Africa have confirmed outbreaks.
