Economists have commended the current clampdown on illegal foreign currency dealers being undertaken by the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ), however they argue that it is not tackling the source of the problem.

Zimpapers radio news spoke to economists Eddie cross, Clinton Musonza and Zimbabwe national chamber of commerce chief executive officer Christopher Mugaga.

Seventy-seven people countrywide have so far had their bank accounts and mobile money accounts frozen and barred from operating for the next two years, as part of the RBZ’s efforts to clampdown on the illegal market.
