The Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC) says it is going ahead with the installation of pre-paid meters in all residential areas.
This was said by ZETDC acting managing director Howard Choga in a speech read on his behalf by Western Region Manager Lloyd Jaji during the launch of the Bulawayo region smart meters in Bulawayo today.
ZETDC says it is owed billions of dollars by its customers and putting everyone on smart meters will address the challenge as customers will be forced to pay for electricity before using it.
