Japan has pledged more than 600 000 United States Dollars for the strengthening of access to safe, timely, and affordable surgical, obstetric, and anaesthesia healthcare services in Matabeleland North and Manicaland provinces.

The funding targets all citizens in need of care at all levels and will be implemented by the Ministry of Health and Child Care in partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO).

Acknowledging the grant, Health and Child Care Permanent Secretary Dr Jasper Chimedza said the supplementary budget funding from Japan will make a significant contribution in the delivery of quality surgical care services in the country.
