Government has received vehicles worth about 59 000 US dollars from the African Development Bank (AFDB), as it continues to complement government in post Cyclone Idai recovery efforts.

Local Government and Public Works deputy minister Marion Chombo officiated at the handover ceremony in Harare yesterday.

Meanwhile AFDB country manager Moono Mutopola said the bank has completed several projects in Manicaland province as part of efforts to restore normalcy to communities that were affected by the devastating Cyclone Idai in 2019.

About 270,000 people were affected by the storms, subsequent flooding and landslides, that left 340 people dead and many others missing.

Chimanimani and Chipinge districts were the hardest hit.
