Harare city council has blamed residents who discard litter in storm drains for the flash floods that are being experienced in the central business district and most residential suburbs each time there are heavy rains.
In an interview with Zimpapers Radio News Harare City Council acting corporate communications manager Innocent Ruwende urged residents to be responsible in keeping the environment clean.
Meanwhile, Combined Harare Residents Association acting director Rueben Akili implored the Local Authority to strengthen its stormwater drainage system.
The local authority has been under fire from residents for failing in various services including clearing storm drains before the onset of rains and removal of the garbage.
