Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Minister Professor Paul Mavima says government is ready to engage civil servants to negotiate new wage and benefit structures for this year.

In an interview with Zimpapers Radio News, Minister Mavima said talks between the stakeholders had already been pencilled for the first quarter of the year.

Meanwhile Zimbabwe Confederation of Public Sector Trade Unions (ZCPSTU) secretary general David Dzatsunga said they will use the negotiations to press for higher salaries.

Last week the ZCPSTU wrote an urgent letter to government requesting for a meeting.
