THE Minister of State for Manicaland Dr. Ellen Gwaradzimba has challenged the media, law enforcement agents, and other stakeholders to take gender-based violence seriously.

Speaking during a meeting aimed at strengthening service provision to rape and sexual abuse survivors, Dr. Gwaradzimba said it was not time to hold conferences but to confront the scourge head-on.

She urged the police to bring perpetrators to book as well as increase mass awareness campaigns.

Dr. Gwaradzimba attributed the rise in GBV cases to a lack of education, support systems, and some traditional beliefs.

Msasa Project advocacy programme officer, Ms. Rotina Mafume Musara echoed the same sentiments calling for consorted efforts in addressing GBV.
