Midlands province faces maize shortages
Midlands Provincial Affairs Minister Larry Mavima says the province is facing maize shortages, leaving thousands of people food insecure.
He was presenting a provincial state of affairs report before a Zanu PF Midlands Provincial Co-ordinating Committee meeting in Gweru at the weekend, which was addressed by President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
“The scenario is exposing thousands of families to serious food insecurity. This is a matter that requires urgent attention. I know you have assured us your excellency that no one will starve and we are committed to ensuring that we save livelihoods,” said minister Mavima.
The country has been facing food insecurity for the past few years owing to adverse weather conditions.
