The Junior Parliament of Zimbabwe says learners are not ready to sit for both June and  November examinations citing disruption of normal learning due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Junior Parliament led by Junior minister of Education Tanaka Matiza and Child speaker of Parliament Christopher Mutasa made their submissions while appearing before the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Primary and Secondary Education led by Priscilla Misihairabwi-Mushonga.

They both urged the government to consider their plea taking into consideration that learners are the most affected.

Giving oral evidence before the same committee, Deaf Zimbabwe Trust Education Officer Ms. Mirirai Nyabvure complained over the manner in which the Radio Lessons are being conducted saying there are not inclusive of the deaf and most of them will not be able to write their examinations this year.

However, Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education Permanent Secretary Mrs Tumisang Thabela insisted that the government is in the process of finalising modalities to enable commencement of the June examinations set for tomorrow commence with schools being advised to observe the Covid-19 regulations.
