June exams to go ahead as scheduled

Primary and Secondary Education Minister Cain Mathema says the June examinations scheduled to begin next Tuesday are going ahead as planned adding that his ministry is finalising preparing exam centres.

Minister Mathema’s comments come as some teacher organisations have raised a red flag over the lack of preparedness by some centres.

Zimbabwe Schools Examination Council (Zimsec) Board Chairperson Professor Eddie Mwenje said they are ready to commence with exams come Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Zimbabwe Rural Teachers Association Vice President Mr Gibson Mushangu said rural examination centres are not yet ready as some have not met World Health Organisation set guidelines to minimise the spread of the corona virus pandemic.
