Daily Sports Zone: Antipas resigns after Warriors 2-1 victory over Chipolopolo

The warriors are back in the country after their 2-1 victory over Zambia in Lusaka last night in a 2021 AFCON Group H Qualifier. Locally based contingentplus Turkey based Teenage Hadebe arrived this afternoon together with the coaches, Joey Antipas and his technical team.

After yesterday’s game Warriors sit 2nd in Group H after the Zambia win, two points behind leaders Algeria. The win had looked unlikely after the draw with Botswana last Friday. However defender Teenage Hadebe says they met as players after the Botswana game to rectify errors and knew what they had to yesterday.

Antipas resigns soon after Chipolopolo 2-1 win

Reports have said that Antipas, whose official title is Warriors Interim head coach has resigned from his job as Warriors coach. However Antipas says he was given a 6-game contract up to the end of this year and he has achieved his mandate.

His record this year as Warriors interim coach is 3 victories, 1 defeat and 2 draws, however with him the Warriors qualified for the CHAN 2020 tournament, the 2022 FIFA World Cup group stage qualifiers and sit second in Group H in the 2021 AFCON qualifiers.
