Zimbabwe Gender Commission launches Gender Observatory to document women’s experiences throughout the electoral process

The Zimbabwe Gender Commission in collaboration with the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC), the Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission (ZHRC), the National Peace and Reconciliation Commission, the Zimbabwe Media Commission (ZMC) and other stakeholders, on Tuesday launched the Gender Observatory which is a mechanism for gathering and documenting women’s experiences throughout the electoral process.
Speaking during the launch in Harare, Zimbabwe Gender Commission chairperson, Commissioner Margaret Mukahanana-Sangarwe said the Gender Observatory is a long term mechanism, whose existence will extend beyond the elections.
Commissioner Mukahanana-Sangarwe expressed gratitude to United Nations (UN) women for its support in launching the gender observatory.
