President Mnangagwa calls on Zimbabweans to cherish Independence

President Emmerson Mnangagwa says there is need to jealously guard  the country’s independence which came at a huge cost .
He was speaking at a cinema in Harare during a private viewing of the film “Chinhoyi 7”, a film which chronicles events of the Second Chimurenga. President Mnangagwa commended the film's production crew for documenting the country's history through film.
Sports, Arts and Recreation Minister Kazembe Kazembe said the film will go a long way in educating younger generations on the country's history.
Meanwhile Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association Secretary General Cde Victor Matemadanda, has called on war veterans  to reflect on the gains of the liberation struggle and cherish the sons and daughters who lost their lives fighting for the country's freedom.
Independence day preparations are at an advanced stage in all the country's ten provinces, with a number of activities lined up for the day.
The main independence commemorations in Matabeleland South will be held at Phelandaba Stadium in Gwanda, where the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs, Cde Abednico Ncube will officiate at the celebrations.
