Schools in the midlands province have intensified diahorreal disease surveillance and monitoring amongst school pupils as isolated cases of cholera and typhoid continue to be recorded in most districts across the province.
Midlands Provincial Education Director Mrs Agnes Gudo said the education sector have increased teacher and pupil knowledge about diahorreal diseases and quick reporting mechanism in case of any suspected cholera or typhoid.
SHE said they have partnered with the Health Ministry and are rounding up all schools to raise awareness amongst all learners from early childhood level.
Mrs Gudo said they are also spreading the disease alert messages amongst private schools and pre-schools around Gweru so that no one is left out.
