Harare Mayor, Councillor Herbert Gomba says council has set aside five million dollars in its 2019 budget to stand as a package facility to dismiss council employees who fail to deliver on their promises spelt out in their performance contracts, which they signed on Tuesday.
Speaking at the signing of performance contracts by city’s directors and managers on Tuesday, Mayor Gomba said employees should focus on service delivery before demanding rates from residents.
The City's Town Clerk Engineer Hosiah Chisango said strong measures have been put in place to monitor performance of employees.
Meanwhile Harare Residents Trust director Mr Precious Shumba applauded council for coming up with the initiative.
