National Aids Council operations director Mr Raymond Yekeye says government does not currently have any cure for HIV as no such drug has been made available to them.
In an interview with Star FM News following claims by Prophetic Healing and Deliverance leader Walter Magaya that he and a group of Indian researchers have found a cure for HIV, Mr Yekeye said those on treatment should not stop taking their medication  unless advised by a medical practitioner.
Zimbabwe Medical Association secretary general Dr Sacrifice Chirisa urged those on anti-retroviral treatment to continue taking their medication until clinical evidence is provided.
In separate statements, the Zimbabwe Association of Doctors for Human Rights and Zimbabwe Aids Network called on Prophet Walter Magaya to reverse his claims stating that it lacks scientific backing and also urged the Minister of Health and Child Care Dr Obadiah Moyo to investigate the safety of herbs being alleged to cure HIV.
