The Bulawayo City Council has introduced a 36 hour water shedding schedule in all its residential areas.
In an interview with Star FM News, the city's senior public relations officer, Mrs Nesisa Mpofu said the move has been necessitated by low water levels at Umzingwane dam and other reservoirs.
Mrs Mpofu urged residents to conserve and use water sparingly.
In a bid to manage water supply, she said two of the city supply dams may be decommissioned this year if they do not get significant inflows adding that the shedding will initially run for 36 hours and will be reviewed weekly until the situation normalizes.
