Accountants urged to report cases of corruption

...

Members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Zimbabwe have been challenged to report acts of corruption to authorities that will assist in the revival of the country`s economy. This was said by Senator David Coltart while presenting a paper on the importance of transparency and accountability for economic prosperity, during a seminar in Bulawayo.  "As accountants you have a critical role  to play in this regard. It is sometimes my perception, criticise me if I'm wrong, that accountants are so anxious to maintain client confidentiality, which is important. They look the other way when they see gross acts corruption and violations of the law," said Mr Coltart.
He said Accountants have an obligation to be bold and expose such activities.
