The Cancer Association of Zimbabwe says 81 percent of cancer cases in the country are diagnosed late, despite efforts to raise awareness on early screening. Speaking on cancer awareness at a two day women's conference  organised by the Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe in Harare, the association's information officer, Mr Lovemore Makurirofa said late diagnosis can be expensive to both the patient and government. He also called for de-centralisation of cancer services to cater for those in rural areas.
