One hundred and fifty-eight (158) students and twelve teachers from St Charles Lwanga who were trapped at the school following the flooding caused by cyclone Idai have been rescued by the Zimbabwe National Army and are now in Chipinge enroute to Mutare.
Roman Catholic Priest Shepherd Munaro told our sister station Diamond FM that the group will be housed at the Catholic centre in Mutare.
Meanwhile the Ministry of Information Media and Broadcasting Services says Zimbabwe National Army engineers have managed to create a detour at the previously impassable Mutare-Chipinge road near Jopa for transportation of aid material.
